Watch: Hurricanes’ Kris Versteeg scores flukiest goal of the season
Carolina winger Kris Versteeg scored the flukiest goal of the season yet against the Penguins.
Somewhere, Don Cherry is screaming, “Kids, don’t tip that puck.”
Carolina’s Kris Versteeg is living proof. Up 1–0 against the Pittsburgh Penguins, Versteeg fired a harmless looking wrist shot on Marc-Andre Fleury. The puck seemed to disappear before it landed in the back of the net a few seconds later.

Upon closer inspection, Versteeg’s shot was redirected by Sidney Crosby’s stick and bounced off the end boards up into the air. No one could locate the puck before it fell out of mid-air, bounced off Fleury’s back and landed in the back of the net.
Versteeg’s seventh goal of the year is certainly one he’ll never forget. Physics, man.
