Watch: Sabres’ Eichel goes end-to-end for goal vs. Avs

For someone who entered the season as an 18-year-old super-prospect and the No. 2 draft pick, Jack Eichel has often flown below the radar during his rookie season with the Buffalo Sabres.
Perhaps that’s what happens when you’re in Connor McDavid’s shadow or when the likes of Artemi Panarin, Dylan Larkin and Shayne Gostisbehere unexpectedly have banner rookie years.
While Eichel might miss out on a Calder Trophy nomination, he’s been a solid performer for the Sabres, with an occasional dash of spectacular.

Eichel’s moves in shrugging off the defenders is what gets your attention first. But the shot, through the legs of the defenseman, is becoming a go-to Eichel move.

It was his 17th goal and 38th point of the season, the third- and second-best rookie totals in 2015-16.
As the Sabres broadcast says, “Add another one to the Eichel Tower.”
