Watch: Stars F Cody Eakin scores shorthanded goal vs. Predators
Despite Stars’ left winger Antoine Roussel taking an ill-advised penalty for a whack to Nashville’s Carter Hutton, Dallas still found a way to score during Monday’s game against the Predators.
With the Predators top-10 power play on the ice, Stars forward Cody Eakin was able to break up a power play chance in front of goaltender Antti Niemi. Eakin then transitioned up the ice, creating a two-way play on the penalty kill that lead to a short-handed goal for Dallas to tie the game 1–1.
The goal scored on the odd man rush was only Nashville’s second shorthanded goal allowed this year. Stars captain Jamie Benn recorded his fifth point short-handed this year.
The Stars would go on to win 3–2 in overtime against Nashville.
