The NHL has suspended Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog for three games for what the league called a “reckless and irresponsible” crosscheck of Anaheim Ducks defenseman Simon Despres.
The incident occurred during Colorado’s 3–0 victory over the Ducks on Wednesday. Despres was not injured and Landeskog was not reprimanded during the game.
As a result of the crosscheck, Landeskog has also been fined almost $204,000.
Landeskog has 17 goals, 29 assists, and 46 points for the season.

Colorado is set to take on the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday.
