It wasn’t pretty, but the Tampa Bay Lightning have moved to within one win of their second consecutive trip to the Stanley Cup Final.
The Lightning’s stunning Game 5 victory in Pittsburgh was sealed 53 seconds into overtime, when a bad-angle shot by Jason Garrison caromed off Tyler Johnson’s back and past Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, securing the 4-3 Lightning victory.
Tampa Bay trailed most of the night. It was behind 2-0 in the first period, and 3-2 late into the third period until Nikita Kucherov tied the game with 3:16 remaining.
The Lightning now lead the series 3-2 and have a chance to close out the Penguins in Game 6 on Tuesday night in Tampa Bay.
