The Pittsburgh Penguins and San Jose Sharks will battle in this year’s best-of-seven Stanley Cup Final.
After starting the season 15-10-3, and firing coach Mike Johnston, the Penguins surged to finish with the second-best record in the Eastern Conference under Mike Sullivan. They took down the Rangers and Capitals to begin the postseason, and edged Tampa Bay in a seven-game conference final.
San Jose, under coach Peter DeBoer, was one of the best teams in the second half of the season, and proved to be formidable in the postseason as well, advancing past the Kings, Predators and Blues.
The Sharks are in the Stanley Cup Final for the first time, while the Penguins are looking to win their first Cup since 2009.
