Oilers’ Nurse Suspended for Instigating Wild Fight at End of Game 4
The NHL handed has out discipline following the mayhem in the final minutes of the Oilers’ 4–1 win over the Golden Knights in Game 4 on Wednesday night.
The league announced that Edmonton defenseman Darnell Nurse has been suspended one game for charging into a scrum and initiating a fight with Vegas defenseman Nicolas Hague. Due to the fact that Nurse was slapped with an additional instigator penalty, with less than five minutes remaining in the game, it resulted in an automatic review by the league.
Additionally, NHL’s Player Safety announced that Edmonton coach Jay Woodcroft was automatically fined $10,000 as a result of Nurse’s suspension.
Just minutes earlier, Vegas defenseman Alex Pietrangelo slashed Edmonton star forward Leon Draisaitl which resulted in a five-minute major penalty and game misconduct. As of now, both clubs are still awaiting the results of a hearing scheduled for Thursday that pertains to any potential action taken by NHL Player Safety against Pietrangelo.
The Western Conference second-round series, which is tied 2–2, will return to action on Friday with Game 5 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
