Hurricanes goalie Pyotr Kochetkov made a fearless save during a penalty shot from Senators’ Brady Tkachuk, resulting in a fair bit of fury from Ottawa’s captain.

As Tkachuk approached the goal, looking to make a move to get past Carolina’s goaltender, Kyochetkov alertly and unexpectedly sprung forward and attempted a diving poke check.

His attempt was successful, as he poked the puck loose from Tkachuk’s stick, denying the penalty shot. After colliding with Kyochetkov, the Senators star was sent spiraling toward the boards behind the goal.

Kochetkov was overjoyed in the aftermath, and he confidently talked some trash to Tkachuk as he celebrated the big save.

Tkachuk, who is known to have a bit of a temper, was fuming, and referees had to hold him back as he attempted to go after Carolina’s goalie in a fit of rage.

The Hurricanes would go on to win the game 4-1, a lead Kyochetkov’s remarkable diving poke check save helped to maintain.
