Eight Finalists in NY Islanders’ Fan Jersey Design Contest Revealed

The final eight jersey designs for the New York Islanders' fan jersey contest have been unveiled, with voting slated to begin on Aug. 12.

The morning of Aug. 11 saw the New York Islanders unveil the eight final concepts for their next third jersey in the first fan-driven design contest in NHL history.

The final eight jerseys being announced come after 80,490 submissions. These remaining jerseys will now move forward to a bracket-style fan vote in order to determine the official Islanders' third jersey, which will debut in the 2027-28 league season.

The first round of voting is to be opened on Aug. 12, and the final round will run from Aug. 18 until Aug. 20 — in which the winning jersey design will be decided. The winner will be unveiled in the days that follow and will go through an extensive design process.

There was a total of 80,490 submissions, the first round of voting will be open from Aug. 12 at 12 p.m. to Aug. 14 at 5 p.m.

Kelly Cheeseman, President of Business Operations for the Islanders and UBS Arena, said the Islanders' organization has been over the moon regarding the support of Islanders' fans in this latest endeavor surrounding a fan-driven jersey design contest.

"Islanders fans have once again blown us away with their incredible creativity and the volume of participation," Cheeseman said via the press release. "Both the passion of our fans and their overwhelming support throughout this contest have been extraordinary. From over 80,000 submissions down to our final bracket of eight, every step of this journey proves just how deeply invested Isles Nation is in the identity of this franchise."

Inside the NY Islanders' Third Jersey Fan Vote Bracket

The bracket consists of the Navy Lighthouse design going against the Orange Lighthouse, and then the winner of that round going against the winner between Navy Fisherman and Orange Fisherman.

Other designs are more centered around typical Islanders' branding and the Isles' name. Navy NY will be going against Orange NY, which will see the winner against Navy Islanders and Navy Isles.

Getting to the bracket stage followed the original launch of the contest on July 9.

Fans were permitted to mix and match 15 different patterns in addition to nine logos and more than 50 colors. The competition came to a close on July 24 after the submission period. The winner of the competition is set to receive a team-signed third jersey in addition to tickets to the game that features the jersey's debut.

Fan reaction to the final 8 jersey concepts is ongoing and is currently mixed, with the navy designs seeing a lot of conversation — it appears the Navy Lighthouse is leading as an early favorite.
