Manteo Mitchell completes the second leg of the 4x400 relay for the U.S., even though he had suffered a broken left fibula halfway through his lap. Shortly after handing the baton off to his teammate, Mitchell reached down and felt the area covered by the blue tape on his leg. "It felt like somebody literally just snapped my leg in half," he said in describing the moment he felt the leg break. Mitchell finished his heat in 46.1 seconds to help the injury-riddled U.S. team qualify for the final.
