In her interview with Tim Layden for a Sports Illustrated cover story, Caitlyn Jenner said that her body “disgusted” her after winning a gold medal at the 1976 Olympics.
Jenner said she stood in front of a mirror in Montreal, one day after winning gold, and wasn't happy with what she saw.
“It disgusted me,” she said. “I was big and thick and masculine. The rest of the world thought it was this Greek god kind of body. I hated it. But it’s what I was given, so I just tried to do the best I could with it.”
Jenner, 66, is one of only 22 Olympians to win gold in the decathlon. She also told Layden that she considered transitioning into a woman before 40, but “it wasn't time.”
