Simone Biles returned to competition two months ago after she barely participated in events for the last two years.

This weekend at the 2023 World Championships, Biles has taken home three gold medals to add to her collection, along with a silver medal. Even a few months ago, this was probably something the 26-year-old didn’t imagine.

A fan mentioned this thought on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Sunday, which prompted a very honest reply from Biles.

“remember like five months ago we didn’t think Simone would ever compete again,” the fan @alysbun wrote.

“real talk I didn’t think so either,” Biles replied.

Biles took a break from gymnastics after battling the “twisties,” which is a gymnastics term for having a mental block mid-air, during the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. She withdrew from various competitions in the Olympics that year.

But, two years later, the most decorated gymnast in history plans to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics. It sounds like it’s still all surreal for her.
