While the 2020 Olympics have not yet been officially canceled, but rather postponed to 2021, the host country Japan has had an Olympics upended before. Leading up to the 1940 Olympics - Japan lobbied in various ways to land the Games, which would've been the first time the Olympics were held in a non-Western country. SI contributor Chris Nashawaty joined Robin Lundberg to look back at the 1940 Summer Games and what led to the dissolution of the event that would've been an opportunity for Tokyo to show the West the rich tradition and culture of a resilient country.
