Georgetown Hoyas Star Projected To Get Drafted By Timberwolves

Thomas Sorber's season may be over for the Georgetown Hoyas, but the 19-year-old's basketball career is just getting started.

If he does decide to enter the NBA Draft this June, then there's a good chance a team could select him in the first round.

This scenario is exactly what Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman drew up in his latest mock draft. He projected Sorber to go to the Minnesota Timberwolves (via the Detroit Pistons) with the 20th overall pick in the draft.

"With 24 games worth of tape for teams to scout, there is still a good chance he's done enough with his post skill, passing and defense to solidify first-round interest," wrote Wasserman.

"In the meantime, he'd been one of the toughest freshman covers around the block, and Georgetown's ability to run offense through Sorber's passing will be seen as a major plus to NBA teams."

The freshman has a ton of raw potential to be a dual threat at the next level.

Sorber has an elite ability to score below the basket and the talent to be one of the better defensive big men on an NBA team. He averaged 1.5 steals and 2.0 blocks during his freshman season.

The one concern is Sorber's lack of an outside outside shot.

Sorber has yet to show he can be an efficient three-point shooter, and this has never been a key piece to his game, either. The freshman is shooting 16 percent on shots behind the arc while attempting 1.5 attempts a game.

That said, it's not uncommon for a big man to develop a more consistent three-point shot after being drafted.

If a team feels they can help develop this part of Sorber's game, then he is a no-brainer to take in the second half of the first round.
