Seahawks and Broncos Plan Throwback Uniform Game

The NFL is often called the "No Fun League" for its rigid rules. However, one of the byproducts of that disciplined approach is great uniforms. It has made it the league with the sharpest aesthetic. Teams have to get permission before making the smallest of changes.

Luckily, two of the best-dressed teams in the NFL have worked together to plan a throwback uniform game. On Tuesday afternoon, the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos announced plans to wear their throwback uniforms against each other on Thursday, October 15. Just a few weeks before Halloween, the game will feel extra special.

Both teams shared the exciting news on social media with slick campaign videos that leaned into vintage graphics. The Seahawks channeled an old-school video game theme with their post, while the Broncos leaned into a vintage television broadcast message.

Neither of these uniforms is new, as both teams have recently reintroduced the throwback uniforms into their wardrobe. In 2023, the Seahawks reprised their silver helmets, blue jerseys, and silver pants. Inspired by the teams of the 1990s, the uniforms coincided with one of the most exciting times in the city's history. Fans have praised both sets of retro uniforms.

In 2024, the Broncos brought back the royal blue helmets, orange jerseys, and white pants. The uniforms honored the Orange Crush era and the 1977 season when the Broncos made their first Super Bowl appearance.

The NFL allows teams to wear dark jerseys against each other as long as there is enough contrast. Not only is there contrast between the Seahawks and Broncos uniforms, but they are actually complementary of each other. This is one of the few uniform matchups that is truly win-win-win.

The highly anticipated Week 6 matchup will kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET at Empower Field at Mile High Stadium. Like every Thursday night game in the regular season, it will be aired on Amazon Prime.
