Ducati has raised the superbike stakes once again, unveiling a new lighter and faster Panigale V4 range on the eve of their World Ducati Week festival in Misano. The seventh generation of sports bikes to bear the Panigale name, the new models immediately stand out with their revised styling and swingarm, combining a modern aero ethos that reduces drag by 4%, along with the iconic looks of the Ducati 916 and Ducati 1098 V-twins.

Coming to the highlights first, which is Ducati's attempt to keep the new Panigale V4 as light as possible, the rear end is now a claimed 3.8 kg lighter than the outgoing model, thanks to the combined suspension and rear wheel assembly.

Additionally, the Euro5+ compliant 1103cc Desmosedici Stradale V4 engine is 1 kg lighter, and the Akrapovič exhaust system trims another 6.6 kg from the overall weight. Demonstrating that every gram counts, the new four-piston Brembo brakes are 30 grams lighter on each side.

As expected, the bike's performance is top-notch. The V4 engine, with its counter-rotating crankshaft to reduce inertia, maintains its capacity but now achieves peak power of 224.9 bhp at 500 rpm higher. Enhanced aerodynamics, refined geometry, and top-of-the-line electronics, including up to seven levels of rear brake intervention for track use, all contribute to the bike's pure performance pedigree. However, Ducati has bid farewell to the iconic single-sided swingarm for the conventional double-sided setup.

Combine lightness and more power, and you'll notice the Panigale V4's power-to-weight ratio has been improved to an impressive 1:15 hp/kg. Ducati insists that the technologies integrated into the Panigale V4 are derived directly from their MotoGP bike. Additionally, the Panigale V4 S sets itself apart with a new SmartEC 3.0 electronically controlled Öhlins suspension, forged aluminum wheels, and a lightweight lithium battery.

Ducati riders from the Superbike World Championship, British Superbike Championship, and MotoGP will converge at Misano to compete in the Race of Champions on Saturday, riding the new Panigale V4.
