Ducati has officially revealed the real reason for selecting Marc Marquez for its factory team alongside Francesco Bagnaia in 2025. Ducati MotoGP Team Manager Davide Tardozzi attributed Marquez's exceptional off-track attitude as the key factor that secured him a spot on the factory team.

Marquez, who currently races for the Ducati satellite team Gresini Racing, has signed a two-year deal with the Ducati Factory team, replacing Enea Bastianini next year. The six-time MotoGP champion has continued to deliver exemplary performances on track in his first year away from Honda. However, for Tardozzi, Marquez's off-track qualities were the most compelling reason for his selection. Speaking to MotoGP.com, he said:

"I think Marc steps into the Ducati field with the right attitude. He never asked us to have something more and unless Gigi Dall'Igna gave to him.

"He showed us a perfect attitude and that's why he will be the rider in the factory team in 2025."

Ducati has been experiencing a season of dominance in the 2024 season thus far, with the exception of Maverick Vinales securing a win at the Circuit of the Americas. Tardozzi expressed pride in the teams, riders Jorge Martin, Marc Marquez, Francesco Bagnaia, Enea Bastianini, and the engineers for making it happen. He added in his statement:

"We are really proud about the results of our teams and riders.

"Jorge Martin and Pecco Bagnaia are really performing, but we have the second and third Ducati like Marc Marquez and Bastianini.

"As a company we are, again, so proud about the work of our engineers and teams."

Francesco Bagnaia currently leads the Championship with 222 points, followed closely by Prima Pramac Racing rider Jorge Martin, who is just 10 points behind. Marc Marquez holds third place with 166 points, while Enea Bastianini is in fourth with 155 points, only 11 points behind Marquez. With 12 races remaining, the championship is still wide open, ensuring an exciting battle for the title.
