The 2024 MotoGP Season is buzzing with excitement as it gears up for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone this weekend, an event poised to be unlike any other. This year not only sees the rising star, Pedro Acosta, excel in his rookie MotoGP season but also marks the 75th anniversary of the sport, promising a race filled with historical resonance.

Acosta, currently fifth in the championship standings and one place ahead of his KTM teammate Brad Binder, is feeling optimistic after the summer break. Despite having never won at Silverstone, Acosta’s enthusiasm remains undamped.

"Happy to be back to the competition after a few weeks off. It's been good to disconnect, spend time with my family, and train a lot.

"We have a hectic second half of the season ahead of us so we will have to work hard and constantly."

Silverstone, known for its unpredictable weather, holds no fear for Acosta.

"Silverstone is a circuit that I like; the weather is complicated but we will see how we manage it this year with the MotoGP." The young Spaniard is particularly thrilled about the 75th-anniversary celebrations, adding: "It will certainly be different from the other Grand Prix as we are celebrating the 75th anniversary of MotoGP, a milestone I am very proud of and happy to experience in person. Let's get back on the gas!"

Joining the anticipation is Acosta's teammate, Augusto Fernandez, who is also gearing up for a strong comeback post the summer break. With Fernandez exploring career opportunities outside of MotoGP for 2025, the British Grand Prix holds significant importance.

"I cannot wait to be back racing in Silverstone after the summer break. Disconnecting was good, I enjoyed family, friends while training back at home to be as ready as possible for the next weeks which will be busy."

With a personal affinity for Silverstone and previous successful outings at the track, Fernandez is aiming high.

"Silverstone is a track that I like, and I had great results in the past. Last season was not bad for us, so I am looking forward to a good weekend and try to finish in the top 10 to start this second part in a good way," he explained.

The 75th anniversary of MotoGP adds a layer of celebration and nostalgia to the upcoming event, elevating it beyond a regular championship race. And with MotoGP being the first sport to return after the break so many other motorsports have had, we welcome it with open arms.
