Alex Rins, MotoGP rider for Yamaha, has withdrawn from the British MotoGP at Silverstone, citing continuing issues from injuries sustained earlier in the season. During Friday's practice session, Rins went 18th-fastest but subsequently faced unexpected challenges that led to his withdrawal.

Rins's difficulties began with a crash at the Assen circuit, adversely affecting his hand and foot. These injuries previously sidelined him for the German MotoGP, and despite the summer break, he has not yet fully recovered. His aspiration to compete effectively at Silverstone was curtailed by persistent physical limitations.

Coincidentally, the Spaniard's withdrawal came at a time when he confirmed his future with Yamaha through a new contract.

During Friday’s practice, Rins was hopeful, noting marked improvements in his bike’s setup.

"During the day we have done a good job with the set-up," Rins stated, adding, "We improved constantly, especially in the last part of practice." However, these advancements were overshadowed by the pain experienced post-session.

Rins’s physical discomfort became apparent after the practice, especially with his wrist, which bore the brunt of his previous accidents. The severity of the pain led to the decision to withdraw him from the weekend's race. Reflecting on his ordeal, Rins shared:

I was eager to jump on the bike again after surgery and after missing the German GP. But I experienced more pain in my wrist than I was expecting after doing so many laps today."

Faced with this setback, his focus now lands on his recovery.

"So now I'll have to go to my physio to do some recovery sessions and evaluate my condition," he said.

With the Austrian MotoGP just two weeks away, Rins faces a crucial decision period. The continuous impact of his injuries necessitates a thorough assessment of his physical capabilities, as his place in upcoming races hangs in the balance.
