American Hypercar Chases Speed Domination After Goodwood Festival Of Speed Success

California-based Czinger Vehicles unleashed its 21C hypercar at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last week, where it beat the time of last year's record holder, Rimac Nevera, through its blisteringly fast pace by a significant margin of 0.49 seconds.

The car in question comes in three variants, all powered by a 2.88-liter twin-turbo V8 that is rev-happy enough to peak at 11,000 rpm, combined with two electric motors at both axles in the front, totaling 1,250 horsepower. The second variant, called the 21C V Max, is equipped with enhanced aerodynamics, capable of maxing out at 253 mph.

Kevin Czinger, founder of Czinger Vehicles, told CarBuzz that the third variant could be faster as a result of having a different gearbox. He said:

"Both of these [21C and 21C V Max] are street cars, [but] there might be a car where we change the gearbox to do that [break records]."

Throwing light on the car's aerodynamic capabilities, Kevin revealed that the production lap record set at the Circuit of the Americas with driver Phil Miller produced an impressive 5,600 lbs of downforce generated at 200 mph.

This achievement sparks curiosity about whether the 21C can challenge the AMG ONE's Nurburgring lap time of 6:35.183- the quickest ever production road car to go around the ring. In addition, the 21C also holds the fastest time at Laguna Seca Raceway by a considerable margin.

Kevin hints that this is a number race that the brand is aiming to win. The strategy is to beat several records with the 21C. When asked if he was aiming to go into the record books, he said:

"Yeah, absolutely. There'll be a little international trip next year."

With high-end technology, Czinger Vehicles can be in a position where it can assist other automobile manufacturers in designing, developing, and manufacturing their components. However, Kevin has bigger plans in his mind. When asked if he would move away from cars to improve profitability, he said:

"It's cool creating tools and enabling other people with tools, but like doing your own thing, man? Yeah, if you're a human, the most cool thing is to express yourself in this way."

He added:

"We'll do air, land, sea, and space vehicles over time."
