NHRA Drivers Post Emotional Message To John Force
Drivers and team members came together at the 2024 Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals to share poignant messages for John Force, who is currently recuperating from serious injuries sustained in a harrowing accident.
The incident occurred when Force's car, hurtling near 300 mph, suffered a critical engine failure and violently collided with concrete barriers. The severity of the crash necessitated an immediate airlift to a trauma center, where he was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury. In the critical days following the accident, Force was sedated to mitigate the effects of his injuries. Despite a grim initial prognosis, he showed signs of recovery, opening his eyes and eventually recognizing and speaking to family members, marking significant milestones in his recuperation.
During the Nationals, the NHRA community took a moment to express their solidarity and support through a touching video compilation. Notable figures such as Jeg Coughlin Jr., Cruz Pedregon, and Erica Enders, among others, shared heartfelt messages wishing Force a swift recovery. The NHRA described the event, noting:
"John Force, a legend in the world of NHRA drag racing, is an inspiration to all drag racers. His unexpected absence due to an on-track incident in Virginia has left an unfillable void in the racing community. The racers, crew members, and fans all felt the weight of his absence in Norwalk.
