Ons Jabeur Pulls Out of Cincinnati Open; Aims for US Open Return

Ons Jabeur's bad year continues to get worse. The fan-favorite broke the news on social media that she would not play in the Cincinnati Open due to a shoulder injury.
Jabeur wrote, "Dear All, I regret to inform you that, due to an aggravated shoulder injury, I will be unable to participate in the Cincinnati Open this year.
Jabeur explained, "Despite my best efforts to recover in time, playing in Toronto did not help, my current condition does not allow me to compete at the level required."
Jabeur concluded, "I am doing all my best to recover for the upcoming US Open in New York. Hugs Ons."

She’s struggling with a shoulder injury.
Very tough luck for Ons this year.
Hoping to see her back at her best for the US Open.

It has not been the year that Jabeur had hoped for, as injuries and illness have plagued her this summer. The Tunisian trailblazer lost in the first round of the Canadian Open last week after missing the Paris Olympics due knee issues.
Despite the setbacks this year, Jabeur is still ranked as the World No. 16. If the right-hander can get healthy in time for the US Open, she will make a very difficult draw for whoever she faces.
The US Open starts on August 16 and runs through September 8. Tennis fans can follow Sports Illustrated's Serve on SI for all the most important news from the sport and beyond.
