John McEnroe's tennis resume speaks for itself. The controversial player won seven Grand Slam singles titles and reshaped the sport with his bad-boy image in the 1980s. Now, the iconic athlete is an elder statesman in tennis and is seen in the broadcast booth.

There is no denying that McEnroe was once the greatest player alive and is still among the best to ever pick up a tennis racquet. But that does not mean his fashion advice for Daniil Medvedev is any good.

McEnroe and Medvedev starred in a hilarious new commercial for Pepperstone. In the 40-second video, the two players from different generations disagree over their sartorial style.

McEnroe's idea to make Medvedev the world's best player was to remake the player in his image. That meant short-shorts, a headband, and long curly hair. Naturally, Medvedev was not feeling the makeover.

Luckily, tennis fans get to watch Medvedev back on the court today whenever the weather at Wimbledon decides to cooperate. His third round match against Jan-Lennard Struff got suspended yesterday during the fourth set.
