Chennedy Carter Deserves Credit for Chicago Sky

Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark have dominated the headlines following the Chicago Sky's win over the Indiana Fever. But it is a player who was in headlines for the wrong reasons earlier this season who deserves credit as well, Chennedy Carter.

The other CC was the talk of the country after her off-ball foul sent Clark to the floor during an earlier meeting between the two teams. But instead of spiraling after that moment, Carter has seized the opportunity and become a bucket for Chicago.

Chennedy's pull-up game feels unstoppable at times and her coach Teresa Weatherspoon showed trust in her game by inserting Carter into the starting lineup. Carter has put up 20 points per contest since the change and along with Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, she provided the Sky with the spark they needed to finally get a win over the Fever.

Angel has recognized the contributions dubbing Chennedy the Chen to her Barbie and praising her teammate as the fastest player she has played with so far in her WNBA career. Which is backed up by the data as Carter is leading the league in fast-break points per 100 possessions.

Carter's career once looked like it was on a path to nowhere. The fourth overall pick in the 2020 draft by the Atlanta Dream was eventually suspended for "conduct detrimental to the team" and traded to the Los Angeles Sparks. The Sparks then benched and soon after waived her leading to Chennedy playing the 2023 season in Turkey.

However, it seems she has found a home in Chicago. And perhaps the controversy allowed her to focus on hooping. Because Carter's talent was never in question, and she is currently unleashing it for the entire WNBA to see.
