Fever Rookie Caitlin Clark Leads Entire WNBA in Important Category

Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark is generating more points than anyone in the WNBA. Not just amongst rookies. Amongst all players. Clark has scored or assisted on more baskets than any other player, meaning she could have a case to be in the Most Valuable Player conversation, in addition to the oft discussed Rookie of the Year race.

This takes nothing away from Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky, who has also been absolutely tremendous. There is no reason at all both of their games shouldn't be appreciated simultaneously. But it does make a strong point that perhaps Clark is doing more than most realized. Though her becoming the first WNBA rookie ever to record a triple-double was certainly celebrated plenty.

The Fever have improved greatly since the beginning of the season, as the New York Liberty's Sabrina Ionescu pointed out, even if she didn't use the perfect choice of words. Clark of course has been the catalyst for that and she actually scored or assisted on over 50% of Indiana's total points in the win against the number one team in the league.

Caitlin has certainly had help from her fellow All-Stars in Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell, who both have provided consistently reliably scoring next to Clark. But CC is the engine behind the Fever's now feared transition offense. Clark leads the W in total assists, as the extra attention she requires defensively is starting to turn into easier opportunities for the rest of the Fever. She also remains a dangerous threat from the perimeter and is top-five in 3-pointers made despite struggling with her efficiency a bit from the outside.

All that is to say Clark has more than adjusted to the reality that is the WNBA. And if we are being real, she has already put herself up there with the best players in the league based purely on her performance on the court.
