The Chicago Sky didn't resume their 2024 WNBA season in the way they had wanted on Thursday.

After not having played a regular season WNBA game for nearly a month due to the Paris 2024 Olympics, the Sky returned to the court against the Phoenix Mercury Thursday and were defeated 85-65.

It was a frustrating game for Chicago. With guard Chennedy Carter sidelined due to an illness, the Sky struggled to generate offense and looked lethargic and hapless as a result.

Player frustrations appeared to boil over in the game's final minutes, as Sky veteran guard Dana Evans could be seen yelling something at rookie Kamilla Cardoso during the game.

Fans on social media believe that Evans yelled something like, "Just catch the d*** ball!" to Cardoso after the rookie couldn't secure one of Evans' passes.

While it's unclear what exactly Evans said to Cardoso (and whether her yelling at Cardoso did indeed occur), Evans took to X after the game to address the alleged incident.

"Y’all find anything to drag my name & it’s getting weird lol.. me & Kamilla goood, stop trying to stir up bull," Evans wrote.

Evans' post has over 210,000 views in about 14 hours after posting.

Teammates getting temporarily upset with and holding each other accountable is inevitable in any team sport; especially when it comes to a veteran instructing a rookie.

Although the Sky have been dealing with a lot of drama over the past few weeks. From veteran Marina Mabrey requesting a trade out of Chicago to Chennedy Carter getting upset over ESPN's WNBA player rankings, the Sky have facilitated much off-court activity for fans to monitor.

What's for sure is that Evans produced one of her best games of the 2024 WNBA season last night, scoring 14 points in 24 minutes played. This tally is tied for the second-most points she has scored in a single game all season.

The Sky will look to rebound against the Los Angeles Sparks on Saturday.
