Angel Reese Delights Fans with 3-Point Makes for Sky
Double-Doubles have become the norm for Angel Reese. The Chicago Sky rookie scored a career-high 27 points to go with 10 rebounds in a win over the Seattle Storm, reaching double figures in both categories for the 12th consecutive game. That ties Candace Parker for the longest such streak in WNBA history. But it was Angel's three point shooting that sent fans into a frenzy.
Reese hit her first career three from the corner toward the end of the first half and followed it up with a smooth stroke from the top of the key in the second to prove it was not a fluke. Most importantly, Angel let it fly with no hesitation. Reese has been seen working on her shot with coaches in recent weeks and now the practice is beginning to translate to game action.
Reese was more than helped out in the scoring department by Chennedy Carter, who scored 33 points to lead the Sky. It was the most points scored by an opponent against the Storm all season, with Carter displaying her scoring prowess and array of herky-jerky moves.
Carter has thrived since being inserted into the starting lineup by head coach Teresa Weatherspoon, consistently delivering an offensive punch for Chicago. In combination with what Reese brings every game, the pair have the Sky playing better basketball. The team has won four out of six contests and that trend could continue with both playing at this level. Especially if Angel winds up adding the 3-point shot to her arsenal.
