The US women's national basketball team just came agonizingly close to losing against France for the Paris 2024 Olympics gold medal on Sunday.

Despite being massive favorite heading into this gold medal match, Team USA ended up winning the game by a score of 67-66.

It was a back-and-forth affair throughout. And if not for the heroic performance of American standouts A'ja Wilson and Kahleah Copper, there's no way Team USA would have won their eighth consecutive gold medal.

American fans can now exhale after that stressful game is over. And Chicago Sky rookie sensation Angel Reese dropped an X post on Sunday that perfectly encapsulated how Team USA fans are feeling in the wake of that nail-biting win.

"A WIN IS A WIN. CONGRATS LADIES!!! @usabasketball," Reese wrote, along with a gold medal emoji.

Reese is right in saying that regardless of how anxiety-inducing Sunday's game against France was, all that matters is that Team USA got their win and their gold medals.

There has been endless debate about Reese's fellow rookie icon Caitlin Clark not making the Team USA roster for these Olympics.

While Reese hasn't received the same sort of chatter in that regard, the former LSU Tigers standout's excellent rookie season makes it seem like she's destined to play for Team USA in future Olympics games.

Reese has even gone on the record stating that she and Clark will be teammates during the 2028 Olympics, which take place in Los Angeles.

Team USA will be seeking their ninth consecutive gold medal in those 2028 Olympic games. And if Clark and Reese are indeed rostered, Americans will be feeling good about their chances to secure more gold.
