Angel Reese Sets WNBA Rookie Double-Double Record!
Angel Reese messed around and got a double-double, again. The Chicago Sky star was all over the floor against the Dallas Wings and finished the game with 16 points and 18 rebounds in what was perhaps the best performance of her young career.
Reese recorded her seventh consecutive double-double, the longest such run for a first-year player in WNBA history, passing the previous mark set by Tina Charles and Cindy Brown. Reese honored Michael Jordan with her pre-game fit, but then hit the boards like MJ's former teammate Dennis Rodman once the action started.
Reese is tenacious on the glass and near the top of the league in the rebounding category but it was her all-around production that helped the Sky snap a four-game losing streak. Angel has been the subject of a lot of media attention recently and doesn't exactly feel she has been covered fairly. Though she has previously said she doesn't mind playing the villain role, down to her Joker themed shoes.
Reese and the Sky will surely be the subject of more coverage coming up as they face off with Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever for the third time this season this weekend. The last matchup set ratings records and the looming showdown is the most expensive ticket in WNBA history.
Reese will look to snatch her first professional win against Clark after starting their WNBA rivalry 0-2, but regardless of the result, it is likely that Angel will fill up at least a couple columns in the box score.
