Caitlin Clark Flopping Motion Goes Viral

Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark got into it with fellow rookie Julie Vanloo of the Washington Mystics, with one sequence making waves online. Clark and Vanloo were seen jawing back and forth before Caitlin made a gesture that seemed to indicate a flopping accusation.

This was amidst some pushing and shoving in a game that got chippy as the Fever attempted to mount a huge comeback behind Clark's historic performance. But the reason the video above likely blew up was the callback to what had happened when Caitlin and Indiana previously faced Dijonai Carrington and the Connecticut Sun.

Carrington's flopping motion also went viral and she seemed to address what she felt to be a double standard in a post sent after the Sun fell to the New York Liberty. Dijonai made it clear she was addressing fans who had attacked her in the wake her widely shared motion and not Clark directly.

None of those histrionics on the court mattered much as Caitlin and company were unable to come all the way back against the 31-year-old rookie Vanloo, who had 13 points for the Mystics. Washington was led by Ariel Atkins who dropped 26 points in the win.

Clark got away with her share of physicality in the contest but CC was all over the floor for Indiana. Caitlin finished with 29 points, 13 assists, 5 rebounds, 5 3-pointers made, 5 steals and 3 blocks in the game, becoming the first player in either the WNBA or NBA to put up such a stat line.
