Cameron Brink made a public statement not long after the Los Angeles Sparks announced the rookie had suffered a torn ACL. The injury occurred in the team's game against the Connecticut Sun and the diagnosis was announced by the team Wednesday afternoon.

Brink took to social media to address her fans in an Instagram post writing

"You never think it will happen to you. And despite all the hard work sometimes it does. This is hard to fathom but I know it will only make me stronger. I will not be derailed and I will continue to love this life- I’m not defined by basketball, but it is something that I love deeply and I will work everyday to get back to it. It’s not goodbye basketball it’s just a see you later. I’m always so thankful for your thoughts and prayers. 💜💛 #delayednotdenied"

Brink received an outpouring of support from peers and WNBA fans alike as she had quickly become a favorite during her first season with the Sparks. Perhaps in part due to the attitude she showed in her post above.

Brink was excited about her upcoming participation with the 3x3 Olympics squad in Paris this Summer but will now have to be replaced by Team USA.

The standout from Stanford will surely be supportive of whoever winds up on the roster and there is no doubt she will be behind her team the rest of the season, which includes fellow rookie Rickea Jackson, who is now set to receive even more of a workload.
