The Chicago Sky announced a roster move that caught WNBA fans by surprise waiving guard Kysre Gondrezick. Gondrezick played very sparingly for the team but is a popular figure on social media.

Gondrezick was the fourth pick in the draft by the Indiana Fever in 2021. The former West Virginia standout was out of the league after playing only 19 games her rookie season. The highest-drafted player in Mountaineers history then signed with Chicago on a training camp contract this February. Gondrezick saw only 16 minutes of total action this season before being waived. Kysre struggled with her shot in limited playing time, hitting only 28.3% of her total attempts from the floor thus far in her career.

Gondrezick caught the attention of the internet when she was spotted at the Boston Celtics championship parade. Kyrse was caught on camera on one of the parade floats next to NBA Finals MVP Jaylen Brown. That was a day off in between Chicago's games with the Dallas Wings and Atlanta Dream earlier in June.

Her now former team fell to the Las Vegas Aces Thursday night despite yet another double-double from rookie Angel Reese. Reese became the youngest WNBA player to record nine straight double-doubles in the contest with 18 points and 11 rebounds. A'ja Wilson scored 31 points for Las Vegas in the win over the Sky.
