Diana Taurasi Had Short Response to Caitlin Clark Question

Diana Taurasi and Caitlin Clark's first WNBA matchup when the Phoenix Mercury face off with the Indiana Fever on Sunday is sure to be hotly anticipated. But Taurasi herself had a very succinct response when asked about facing off with the much heralded rookie.

"It'll be fun."

That was the extent of what Taurasi had to say about the looming showdown when asked during a team practice. Of course the game will have extra juice not just because Diana is a WNBA legend, but also due to comments she made before Clark entered the league.

"Reality is coming."

There was also some discussion around Taurasi being included on Team USA women's basketball roster for the Olympics, where she will go for a record sixth gold medal, while Clark was left off the team. Taurasi is 42-years-old and in her 20th season. She is averaging 16.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists. Clark is 22 and is totaling 16.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 6.6 assists.

Taurasi criticized sensitive fans for blowing her previous comments out of proportion, while stating there is always an adjustment period when an athlete steps up to a different level of competition. However, that hasn't stopped said fans from taking Diana's words to heart. And there will certainly be extra anticipation to see how well Clark has already adjusted when she gets a chance to take on the woman once voted WNBA GOAT, in yet another chapter of what has already been a whirlwind rookie year for the star out of Iowa.
