Sky Rookie Angel Reese Joins A'ja Wilson with WNBA Honor

Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese has grabbed another honor to go with her double-double collection. Reese was named WNBA Player of the Week for the Eastern Conference, becoming the only rookie to nab that recognition this season and the first member of the Sky since Elena Delle Donne in 2013 to do so as a first-year player.

While on her way to makin' history for the most consectuive double-doubles in a single szn, she averaged 16.8 PPG, 14.0 RPG and 1.2 APG for games played thru Week 7 #WelcomeToTheW pic.twitter.com/yMVQ2Mjqwz
Reese averaged 16.8 points and 14 rebounds over the week while also breaking the league record for most consecutive double-doubles, a mark previously held by Candace Parker. All of which led to Sky owner Michael Alter delivering Angel a cake to go with the WNBA recognition. It is also safe to assume the news was broken to Reese without her being interrupted by an awkward scene from 'The Big Bang Theory'.

Reese joined Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson, who was selected as Player of the Week for the Western Conference. Wilson netted the achievement for the second straight week. A'ja averaged over 25 points a game on her way to becoming the franchise's all-time leading scorer and she is currently setting a historic pace for points scored period.

Angel had previously expressed her admiration for A'ja when the Sky played the Aces earlier this season, having this to say about Wilson. "I love her shoe. I’m so happy for her; she deserves it. She continues to lead the way in so many different ways." A'ja's A'One kicks are set to drop in 2025.
When the two went head-to-head Wilson scored 31 points, while Reese registered 18 points and 11 rebounds in a win for the Aces.
