South Carolina Coach Dawn Staley Needed a Selfie with Obama

It is tradition for championship teams to be invited to the White House, but South Carolina Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley certainly seemed much more enthused to be in the presence of a former President in Las Vegas than is generally the case for what is seen during official oval office visits. Staley was shown court-side with Barack Obama as the Men's USA basketball team bested Canada in a showcase. It appeared the title-winning coach was making sure she captured some sort of selfie for her own showcase.

This was actually not the first meeting between the two just this week, as Staley was also greeted by Obama at the USA Basketball 50th anniversary reception. In video from that event Barack can be seen saying, "I'm so proud of you" to the woman who has had an illustrious career with USA Basketball as both a player and a coach. Staley is in possession of numerous gold medals, both from her work on the floor and what she's been able to do as a leader on the sidelines.

Of course her former players are still a part of what is going on with USA hoops, with A'ja Wilson most notably being a figurehead of the current team. Coach Staley is also set to be honored for her work off the court, as she will be the recipient of the Jimmy V award at the ESPYs for what she has done to help in the fight against cancer.

Staley's energy always appears to be positive, wherever she is focusing it at the time.
