Sparks Rookie Rickea Jackson Becomes First WNBA Player to Sign with Skechers

The rookie class in the W continues to make waves. This time by Rickea Jackson, the fourth overall pick in the draft of the Los Angeles Sparks. Jackson revealed to Boardroom that she has signed a shoe deal with Skechers, becoming the first WNBA player to join the brand.

Rickea has stood out in her rookie season, taking on a starting role as the season has gone along, and shouldering more of the load with fellow first-year player Cameron Brink sidelined with an ACL injury. Jackson is averaging 11.2 points per game for Los Angeles and has gone for over 20 in two of her last four games. That is after averaging 20.2 points in her final year at Tennessee while leading the SEC in scoring.

Jackson will be the face of the SKX Nexus basketball sneaker, set to launch in 2025. The kicks are low-tops and appear to emphasize both on court speed and style. She had this to say about her partnership with the sneaker company. “Being the first WNBA player to join the Skechers roster is an incredible feeling."

Rickea's profile should only continue to grow in LA and she already has a strong social media presence to go with her ability out on the floor. Now Jackson has fresh shoes to match her game. And in her case the sneakers are even more unique given she is the only player in the history of the league to be aligned with the brand she will be wearing.
