The Chicago Sky suffered a disappointing 86-68 defeat to the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday, marking the second time Chicago has lost to Phoenix in the past four days.

Chicago shot 0 from 14 from three-point range in the loss, which Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune noted was a WNBA record for the worst single-game 3-point shooting efficiency.

Despite this disappointing performance from Chicago, one silver lining was the excellent game that Angel Reese submitted.

The 22-year-old rookie finished the game with 19 points and 20 rebounds, which included a staggering 10 offensive rebounds.

While Reese's heroic effort wasn't enough to help her Sky earn win their 12th game of the 2024 regular season, it did seem to earn her some acclaim from WNBA legend Diana Taurasi.

In the moments after Sunday's game, Reese and Taurasi were seen sharing a heartwarming embrace and a few whispered messages for each other.

Much has been made about Taurasi's past comments about Reese's fellow rookie Caitlin Clark, saying that, "Reality is coming" for the rookie when she enters the WNBA.

That being said, Taurasi has since walked back those comments and shown a lot of love toward Clark. And this is the first viral interaction between the six-time Olympic gold medalist and Reese.

Taurasi has good reason to be feeling positive after Sunday's win. She concluded the contest with 23 points, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds for her team.

Chicago and Phoenix play each other one more time this season, on September 15. Perhaps we'll see more memorable moments between Reese and Taurasi during that game.
