Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese has endured a lot of ups and downs during her first season playing professional basketball.

Reese has mostly experienced success on the court. She set the WNBA record for consecutive double-doubles (with 15), is competing with Caitlin Clark for Rookie of the Year honors, and has solidified herself as the steal of the 2024 WNBA Draft.

Despite these triumphs, Reese has still been subject to intense criticism and hate from select media and fans.

The 22-year-old former LSU Tiger has been deemed a villain by a large swath of the basketball community, solely because of her ongoing rivalry with the aforementioned Caitlin Clark.

Yet, before the Sky's game against the Los Angeles Sparks on Saturday, Reese addressed her mental health — and revealed a quote that has helped her persevere through any tough times she has faced.

"My mental health is great," Reese said pregame, per John W. Davis. "I think I've been able to sit and look myself in the mirror and understand who I am as a woman. Just being able to grow and continue to grow. We've all made mistakes and we've all been down. We all haven't had great days.

"But I live by the quote, 'Everyday the sun won't shine, but that's why I love tomorrow,'" Reese continued. "That's by GloRilla, and I've always loved that. because every day isn't going to be a great day, but there's always tomorrow. And I always look forward to tomorrow."

Reese is referring to a July 27, 2022 X post from American rapper GloRilla that wrote, "Everyday the sun won’t shine, but that’s why I love tomorrow," along with a green check mark.

Reese has made her adoration of GloRilla known over the years. And now basketball fans will know that the two female icon's connections with each other is deeper than it may seem on the surface.
