New York Liberty Lead WNBA Power Rankings!

The Indiana Fever and Chicago Sky may lead the league in coverage, but neither Caitlin Clark nor Angel Reese's team is near the top of the WNBA power rankings. Here is the state of the league at this moment with Ellie the Elephant and company leading the way, though there was competition for the top spot which could be decided in the Commissioner's Cup.

1. New York Liberty

The Liberty have won 11 of 12 games, which includes victories over the defending champion Las Vegas Aces and the Connecticut Sun. It's hard to dispute the results and the trio of Breanna Stewart, Jonquel Jones, and Sabrina Ionescu look unstoppable.

2. Minnesota Lynx

The Lynx have a case for number one as well. Minnesota sports the best defensive rating in the league and have won 11 games by double-digits, with Napheesa Collier leading the way.

3. Connecticut Sun

The Sun have struggled against the league's best teams with their three losses coming to the Liberty, Las Vegas Aces, and Seattle Storm. Connecticut's defense has been on point led by Dijonai Carrington but they are going to need to be more potent offensively.

4. Seattle Storm

As referenced above the Storm bested the Sun, which was enough to put them in the same spot as their record in the standings. Seattle has Clark and the Fever up next.

5. Las Vegas Aces

If this was projecting forward the Aces would be higher on the list. Las Vegas just got Chelsea Gray back and is coming off big wins over the Storm and Sun. However, the four losses in five games prior bumped them down a bit, for now.

6. Phoenix Mercury

The Mercury ended the Liberty's winning streak but Phoenix has been a bit mercurial this season. However, a 2-2 split vs New York, Seattle, Minnesota and Las Vegas over the last four is certainly not bad.

7. Indiana Fever

The loss to the Sky aside, the Fever have found a bit of rhythm. Indy had won four in a row prior, with the best offense in the WNBA during that stretch.

8. Chicago Sky

The Sky look to have shaken off their struggles. Chicago has now won two in a row after dropping four straight and the core of Reese, Kamilla Cardoso, Chennedy Carter, and Marina Mabrey is promising.

9. Washington Mystics

It was a rough start to the season for Washington. But the Mystics have bounced back of late, winning four of five games to get out of the bottom of the standings.

10. Atlanta Dream

The season has started to become more of a nightmare for the Dream. Atlanta has lost five out of six games and with Rhyne Howard lost for an extended period of time it doesn't seem like things will get better anytime soon.

11. Los Angeles Sparks

The Sparks are losers of six in a row and with Cameron Brink sidelined for the remainder of the year, Los Angeles is going to need dominant performances from Dearica Hamby to avoid an extended skid.

12. Dallas Wings

Injuries have hurt the Wings but having lost 11-straight, there's nowhere else to place Dallas but at the bottom of the power rankings.
