Wilshere, Rooney lead England over Slovenia in Euro 2016 qualifier

LJUBLJANA, Slovenia (AP) — Wayne Rooney went within one goal of Bobby Charlton's England scoring record on Sunday by clinching a 3-2 victory over Slovenia in European Championship qualifying on Sunday.
Rooney's 48th international goal — level with Gary Lineker's England haul — made it six wins out of six for the Group E leaders.
Milivoje Novakovic exploited England sloppiness to give Slovenia a halftime lead, but Jack Wilshere scored his first two international goals to put the visitors in front.
The first came off a failed clearance which Wilshere lashed home with his left.
The second came from the same spot, but at the end of a superb build-up including a slick back-heel from Adam Lallana
Although Nejc Pecnik produced an 84th-minute leveler, Rooney pounced two minutes later after collecting a pass from substitute Theo Walcott.
