Watch: Frank Lampard makes NYCFC debut
Frank Lampard made his long-awaited debut for New York City FC on Saturday, subbing in for Andrew Jacobson in a match against the Montreal Impact at Yankee Stadium.
Lampard had been expected to debut for the team in July, however a calf injury sustained in training pushed things back.
The English midfielder entered the game in the 69th minute, with the Impact leading 2–1. Montreal would go on to win 3–2 on two goals by Ignacio Piatti (one a penalty kick) and one by Dominic Oduro.
Andrea Pirlo started the game for NYCFC, playing his second MLS game after debuting with the club on July 26. Thomas McNamara and David Villa (penalty kick) both scored for New York City.
