Fernando Torres opened the scoring in the first leg of Atletico Madrid’s Champions League quarterfinal against Barcelona with a big away goal, but the Spaniard was sent off after picking up a second yellow card just moments later.
Atletico took a 1–0 lead as Torres slipped in behind the defense, took a through ball from Koke and slotted past Marc-Andre ter Stegen, who backpedaled and was caught on his heels as the shot slipped through his legs.
The 25th-minute goal was Torres’s 11th career score against Barcelona.
