Martinez, 32, reportedly injured himself while conditioning.
Last year the four-time All-Star hit .330/.380/.470 with 12 home runs and 103 RBI in his first year with Detroit. The year prior he had hit .302/.351/.493 with 20 home runs and 79 RBI for the Boston Red Sox.
