Wells, 33, was struggling at the plate this season with an on-base percentage of just .282. With the veteran outfielder out of the mix, and Torii Hunter away from the team while his son deals with a sexual assault allegation, the Angels will now lean on a trio of youngsters -- Mike Trout, Peter Bourjos and Mark Trumbo -- to anchor their outfield for the time being.
