Andrew Luck

Even after the end of his Cardinal career, Andrew Luck's name will continue to be heard along with Stanford University's football program. The University announced Tuesday that an anonymous donor has endowed the team's Offensive Coordinator position with a "very generous gift" - one that will see job title changed to the Andrew Luck Director of Offense.

"It is a huge tribute," said Luck of the gift and change of job title. "To have anything endowed in my name is a complete honor. I feel very fortunate to have come to Stanford, and I have always enjoyed representing the University. The offensive coordinators I've had here helped me not only in football, but also to grow so much as a person. To be a part of that leadership and position is a very proud legacy for me."

Luck finished his Stanford career as the school's all-time leader in touchdown passes (82), completion percentage (.687; 713-1064), passing efficiency (162.76) and total offense (10,387 yards). He left Stanford after his third season, and was drafted first overall by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2012 NFL Draft. Pep Hamilton will serve at the first Andrew Luck Director of Offense this coming season. Hamilton worked with Luck during Stanford's 11-2 season last year that saw the quarterback finish as a runner-up for the Heisman Trophy.

Stanford has received endowments for athletics positions in the past, but until now they were limited to the head coaches  and the director of athletics. Head Football Coach Dave Shaw's official title is the Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football.
