ESPN's Chris Berman has become a well-known figure on the network's NFL studio shows NFL Countdown and NFL Primetime. However, it seems that the gravelly-voiced sportscaster may get his first crack at calling a game in the booth this Fall.
According to a report in the San Diego Union-Tribune, ESPN would assign Berman to call the AFC West matchup between the San Deigo Chargers and Oakland Raiders in the second game of a Monday Night Football season-opening doubleheader. Though the network may have Berman work a preseason game before then, the broadcasts will be Berman's first experience calling an NFL game live.
