Former University of Idaho football coach Robb Akey filed a lawsuit against the school seeking payment of 1/3 of his salary, reports KREM 2 News.
Akey was fired in October 2012 after a 1-7 start to the season and after the team was routed 70-28 at Louisiana Tech. The Vandals finished 1-11.
Akey was hired in 2007 and had a 20-50 as head coach of the Vandals. His best season was 2009 when the team went 8-5 and won the Humanitarian Bowl.
His contract was set to expire in December 2014. He made a base salary of $165,796.
"All I'm looking for is getting the money I earned. I'm not looking for anything more than that. I just want a fair resolution," Akey said.
"If I had coached four more games, they would have had to pay me a third of my salary. You lose a third of your salary it affects your ability to feed your family, so it's a little disappointing," Akey said in November.
Idaho hired Arkansas offensive coordinator Paul Petrino in December 2012 as their next head coach.
