After going 0 for 11 with five strikeouts in the first three games of his rehab assignment, Dodgers star Matt Kemp has decided to continue playing for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga rather than return to the Dodgers on Monday.
Kemp has been on the disabled list with a sprained left ankle since July 24 -- his third stint on the DL this season -- and has played just 62 games in 2013.
He has reported no problems with his ankle, according to The Los Angeles Times' Bill Shaikin.
From LATimes.com:
"He doesn't feel good yet at the plate," Manager Don Mattingly said Sunday. "He's not pushing us to say, 'I want to be there tomorrow.'"
...
He is expected to play with the Quakes again on Sunday. Mattingly did not say whether Kemp would remain with Rancho Cucamonga into the California League playoffs -- the Quakes' magic number is 1; the playoffs start Wednesday -- or would report to the Dodgers' Arizona training complex.
