Miami men's basketball coach Jim Larranaga received a three-year extension from the school leaving him under contract until 2022, the school announced Thursday.
No financial terms were disclosed.
Larranaga, who was named AP's coach of the year, led the Miami to a school-record 29 wins last season. The team also won the Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season and tournament championships and earned a trip to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament before losing to Marquette.
“Since Jim and Liz's arrival at the University of Miami in 2011, they have had a tremendous impact not only on our basketball program and our student-athletes, but also on the South Florida community,” said Miami athletic director Blake James. “The phenomenal on-court success of the team last season is just the start of something great. We are thrilled that Jim and Liz will be a fixture at UM for many years to come.”
