The agent for Los Angeles Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said he intends to honor his contract and manage next season, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Team President Stan Kasten said that he has always been a big fan of Mattingly's and confirmed that he will return next season.

“I always thought that,” Kasten said. “Absolutely.”

Mattingly's contract was vested when Dodgers advanced to the National League Championship Series after beating the Atlanta Braves in the Division Series.

Mattingly said he was frustrated with the entire saga during a Monday press conference and has been looking for a long-term deal.

In three seasons with the team, Mattingly has complied a 260-225 record.  His agent said they plan to talk to Dodgers management about his status.

“I’m anticipating a happy ending,” Kasten said about the prospects of giving Mattingly a long-term contract.

"We feel confident Stan will be reaching out to to Don within a few days, but we don't know his timetable," Mattingly's agent, Ray Schulte, told ESPN.com. "We understand the Dodgers won't be making any comments concerning those conversations until after the completion of the World Series."
